I would never buy this again - It was ok for improving music reading but universally terrible at anything else. The high hat pedal quit working after about 2 months, and the internal speakers make everything sound like mud. It also seems to trigger all kinds of times it should not, no matter how you adjust the sensitivity, this should be sold in the toy section for $29.99! Yamaha should be ashamed of themselves for putting their name on this junk. I got rid of this and bought the ION IED04 for less money - it works great!

I don't agree with the last reviewer at all - this is NOT a toy in any way. Yes it has some issues, the false triggering is a pain and it does happen sometimes when you hit one pad too hard and the one next to it triggers. I have had mine for about 8 months and don't find any quality issues with it, everything works just as it was designed.

You can do a live performance with the DD55 but you really need to add a real kick drum and snare. It's great for learning new patterns and also for figuring out MIDI if you are not familiar with what it can do. It's also excellent to take on the road to practice with it's a heck of a lot better than just a practice pad! My roommates like it because I can just plug in the headphones and then don't have to hear my pounding away. Listen for under $200 it's a pretty good device, you won't a better more realistic one for less!

I love it. It smaller than a real drum, quieter, and fun to use on grauge band(sorry for miss spelling). OmCan I add cymbals to it? The ones on there confuse me so much and would make it so easier to play!
