Woodwinds 3 is a collection of extraordinary orchestral woodwinds that are less common in the classical repertoire, but are capable of enchanting audiences all over the world when used in the right context. It includes alto flutes, bass flutes, oboe d'amore, Eb clarinets, and contrabass clarinets. Famous examples from the orchestral literature where these types of woodwinds have been used to great effect by real orchestras are "The Rite Of Spring", "Bolero", "The Planets" (Holst), and, more recently, on the soundtracks for the "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy.

Rather than going with a sample-based approach, Wallander Instruments went to work raising the bar for music synthesis. All the sounds of the instruments are based on acoustic principles - and you have realistic control over virtually every aspect of the sound. You'll also enjoy virtually no loading time, since there's no disk streaming, and you can easily jump between projects - or run your sampler with near-full CPU force for other instruments in the background.

Easily create advanced arpeggios and phrases
WIVI Woodwinds 3's visual player makes it easy to develop incredible, advanced orchestrations by just holding down a chord. Using its built-in sequencer, you can just hold down a cord - and then change colors of the notes in the sequencer to choose which key in the chord is the "base key." Phrases and arpeggios will be based on the keys you hold down. Each instrument in the ensemble can have its own musical sequence that's aligned to the chord you play, making it easy to build rich loops layer by layer. What's more, you can easily control the dynamics of the loop in real time using any controller. The tempo is auto-synchronized to your host music program's tempo.

Get creative using randomization and WIVI Templates
Since Wallander Instruments' WIVI instruments are based on the actual sound of orchestral instruments, you can achieve a natural response from even the most experimental of patches. And the WIVI Templates feature helps you get started with synthetic experimentation. WIVI Templates lets you edit instrument parameters and store and recall the useful tweaks at any time. No matter how experienced you are with sound design, you can launch into a WIVI Template and get create with plucked instruments, pads and leads, and arpeggios from any WIVI acoustic instrument. Create unique key-switching schemes, edit your own templates, or create your own WIVI instruments - the sonic possibilities are nearly endless within the WIVI Woodwinds 3 Collection.

Put your instruments in an accurate virtual acoustic space
WIVI Woodwinds 3 Collection lets you place each instrument in a true acoustic space. You can choose from an array of spaces, which will appear on your computer screen. Then, just drag the instrument around the room, wherever you'd like to to be in the concert hall. WIVI will react and calculate the proper acoustic properties for all of the instruments according to the laws of physics, and based on the acoustic properties of the different spaces included. Then, you can even virtually "walk around the room" to choose the position you want to listen and mix the sound from. From concert hall to rehearsal space to cathedral to acoustic chamber, you've got the tools to get even more creative with your sound, beyond just the powerful composition aspect.

Complement WIVI with a breath or wind controller
Because WIVI Woodwinds 3 Collection uses a synthesis-based approach instead of a sample-based approach, you won't experience problems the loading time - or delays from streaming. This makes WIVI a great choice for playing with a breath or wind controller - either for recording, or for the stage! You can play real virtual acoustic instruments or your own experimental instrument creations - no matter the time of day. It's also a fun exercise for children or for anyone to give playing an instrument a try. All the sounds happen in real-time, just the way you express them.
