Powerful, ready-to-go samples
Steven
Slate has sold samples to some of the country's top mixers, and has
worked hard to tweak and test them in actual mixes, within various
musical styles. What you get with this pack is the assurance that
they're going to sound great right "out-of-the-box," with no tweaks
necessary. Plus, Slate's already EQ'd and compressed these samples with
precision - just throw the fader up and get right to work on your mix.
Multiple ambient spaces to choose from
A
unique feature to Steven Slate Drums is the Z system. Each drum sample
set is actually processed in one of four ambient spaces, giving you a
variety of tones and "feels" to choose from when you're selecting the
right sound for your mix. Z1 mono sets have a slight amount of overhead
micing for a three dimensional, airy, punchy, natural drum sound. Z2
sets are stereo samples, and have heavily compressed far room mics that
are mixed in with closer mics, resulting in deep, fat sound that's ideal
for your thick rock mixes. Z3 mono sets are dry and not processed with
any ambient mics for a more in-your-face punk or speed metal type sound.
Finally, the newest Z4 sample sets offer just the isolated room sound
of each sample. So, if you mix a Z1 with a Z4, for example, you'll get a
pure, 3D drum tone that delivers the characteristics of a
stellar-sounding drum room.

Drums sampled a variety of ways
Acoustic
drummers know that you can produce a variety of tones depending on how
you tune the drum at certain tensions, by dampening and undampening the
drum, by using different drum heads, or by tightening and loosening the
snares. Steve Slate Drums makes use of all of these different signature
sounds, and many of the drums are sampled with different tunings,
different heads, and different dampenings - it's like having an acoustic
kit, and a live drummer right inside your studio.

the SSD Virtual Instrument, a VST/DX/RTAS/AU MIDI drum sampler. You can
use it within any DAW. Plus, it has mapping for keyboard and Roland
