Allows a Stage Mixer's Insert Jacks to be Used as Direct Recording Outputs!
Stage mixers are great for live venues, but when you need separate direct outs from each channel (for sending out to a multi-track recorder, for example), you're usually out of luck. But now, using our new DOC-106 Direct Out Cable, you can actually trick the stage mixer's channel insert jack into thinking it's a direct output!
Ordinarily, the insert jack "steals" the individual channels signal for outboard processing. But the DOC-106's clever wiring provides a direct output while allowing signal to continue through the console too. Works on any mixer that has conventionally wired insert jacks (Tip = Send, Ring = Return).
Insert Channels:
Below is a typical overview of Insert channels and how they work.
Diagram 1
shows a typical mixer channel strip with nothing plugged into the
Insert jack. The signal from the Input travels all the way down the
channel to the Fader where it is bussed to the main outputs.

Insert
channels are designed to provide a convenient way to add something
(like delay, compression, etc...) to a single channel. For example, say
you want to add some delay to just one vocal. Simply plug an insert
cable (like Hosa's STP-200 Series)
into the mixer's insert jack. Connect the end labeled "TIP" into the
delay's input and the end labeled "RING" into the delay's output
jack--see
Illustration A. This way signal travels from the
Input to the Insert Jack. From there the signal is sent out of the
Insert jack to a piece of outboard gear and returned to the Insert
jack. From this point, the signal travels on its merry way down the
rest of the channel strip--

If
you want to use your mixer for recording and don't have dedicated
outputs, then you can use the Insert jacks as a direct out. Simply plug
an un-balanced patch cable (like Hosa's CPP-100 Series)
into the mixer's Insert jack. The signal will go from the Input to the
Insert Jack where it will be sent to out to the recorder. Note that the
other channel controls after this point will have no effect (EQ, Pan,
Fader). See

Don't
have dedicated outputs, but would like to record a live performance
with your mixer? No problem. Hosa's DOC-106 Direct Output Cable, lets
you tap a channel while allowing the signal to continue traveling down
the channel strip. See
