Elektron MachineDrum SPS-1 UW MKII +
Percussion Synthesis at its Finest
The Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII is a groundbreaking digital drum machine. Sampling and digital percussion synthesis pave the way for rhythms ideal for any musical purpose. The powerful sequencer is the icing on the cake.
The Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII, where UW is short for User Wave, is a drum machine equipped with numerous drum synthesis methods as well as a sampling engine. But this is not your ordinary beat box, it's something far better. Both synthetic and sample based sounds can be manipulated to great extents. In a matter of seconds a vocal sample can be transformed in to a kick drum. Change a few parameters and a hand clap is suddenly a hi hat. Your imagination is the only limit.
Live performers have a trusty companion in the SPS-1UW+ MKII. Capture loops from a turntable, slice and rearrange the recorded material while adding effects and filtering. The ultra-flexible sequencer allows for total control of all your sounds and samples. All in real time.
The +Drive of the Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII dramatically increases the storage capability compared to previous Machinedrum models. It allows over 16'000 patterns, 8'000 kits and 6'000 samples to be internally saved. To give a taste of the benefits of the +Drive, every SPS-1UW+ MKII comes with seven pre-installed Sound Packs. They consist of patterns and kits combined with studio recorded, 100% royalty free, samples found nowhere else. The collection of Sound Packs is an invaluable sonic extension for producers of all kinds and covers a wide range of genres and styles.
Deep Rhythms is filled to the brim with dubby and bass-heavy sounds.
Mo' Town can function as a starting point in any soul or r'n'b oriented production.
Indie Twist comes in hand when wanting to fuse drum machines and guitars together.
Teachers and Preachers serves the jazz and funk community with tailor made material.
New Glitz offers disco sounds upgraded for the dance floors of today.
Gritty Beats consists of raw samples especially suited for hip-hop producers.
UK Waves gives a taste of the fast-paced British club scene.
Also bundled with the Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII is the TM-1 USB MIDI interface. This device, which comes at no extra cost, features the clever Turbo Mode. Activate it by pressing the Turbo button and suddenly MIDI and sample transfer rates for connected and compatible gear will be ten times as high. Time saving to the max.
The kid brother of the SPS-1UW+ MKII is called the Machinedrum SPS-1 MKII. It features everything found in the SPS-1UW+ MKII, except the sample engine and the +Drive.
These synthesis methods make the sound of the Machinedrum come true
UW is the sample engine that will make you see samples in a completely different light. Mangle pre-loaded or real time recorded samples until kingdom come. Only available in the UW version of the Machinedrum.
TRX makes it possible to revive those old classic drum computers in an instant. The implemented sound parameters are perfect for beaming the sounds of the past straight into the future.
P-I simulates the behavior of acoustic drums. It doesn’t stop there though. This remarkable method allows you to alter the laws of physics without breaking a sweat.
EFM introduces our “Enhanced Feedback Modulation” algorithms. The generated sounds range from realistic acoustic drums to wild, chaotic effects.
E12 carries the legacy of those gritty, hard to find beatboxes. The carefully processed percussion samples offer a wealth of sound possibilities.
Each Machinedrum track has its own effect block. It consists of an amplitude modulator, a 1 band EQ a flexible resonant multi mode filter, a sample rate reducer and a distortion effect. All effects can be used simultaneously. Control their parameters with the sequencer or with the LFO's and create ever-evolving rhythmic sounds.
Stereo Master Effects System
The stereo Master Effects system consists of the Rhythm echo delay, the Gate box reverb, the Dynamix dynamic processor and the Master EQ. They can affect all tracks routed through the main output. These effects are ideal for adding that final touch to a pattern. The Master Effect parameters can of course be controlled from the sequencer.
A parameter lock is automation data on a per note basis. For example, all kick drum note trigs in a pattern could have different decay lengths or different filter and pitch settings. Almost all Machinedrum parameters can be locked. Take advantage of this powerful feature to make the most out of the Machinedrum.
Pattern & Song Sequencer
The secret of the Machinedrum sequencer lies in the way it operates. It offers complete control of the sound engine while at the same time being a creative tool in itself. All synthesis, track effect, routing and master effect parameters can be affected by the sequencer. Note data and parameter changes can of course be recorded in real time.
Immediate User Control
The user interface of the Machinedrum is designed to deliver great results in a quick and easy fashion. It makes the creative process in the studio genuinely enjoyable and when using the Machinedrum on stage the high usability factor opens up for effortless live improvisation. The Machinedrum can truly be played as an instrument.
Full Midi Support
The Machinedrum sequencer is able to control other MIDI equipped gear in great detail. The powerful parameter locks, the LFOs and numerous other functions are available when MIDI sequencing. Nearly all parameters and functions of the Machinedrum are possible to control from external devices as well. No matter how you like to work: The Machinedrum adapts.
The SPS-1UW+ MKII is the Machinedrum model with the largest storage space to date. The +Drive makes this possible.
The +Drive of the Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII divides the machine in 128 Snapshots. Each Snapshot can contain up to 128 patterns, 64 kits, 32 songs, 8 globals and a sample bank consisting of 48 ROM sample slots.
Either load a completely new Snapshot or a single sample bank. When loading a new Snapshot, all patterns, kits, songs, globals and samples are replaced by new content. Loading a new sample bank will just replace the samples, all other content of the current Snapshot stays intact. Load times for both options are just a few seconds.
The +Drive gives the enormous advantage of having thousands of patterns and sounds more or less instantly available. Change Snapshots during a live performance for a completely new session. Load a fresh sample bank and try it together with your currently active Snapshot patterns and kits. With a Machinedrum equipped with a +Drive, storage space is the last thing you need to worry about.
